VESSELS INSPIRED BY NATURE
Two-Day Workshop
Come and create a beautiful wet-felted vessel inspired by nature. We will explore methods of creating great visual interest through a fabulous, highly textured surface. We will form our vessels using a flat resist. Felting with a resist will produce a seamless, hollow shape.
Watch as our flat felt pieces become three-dimensional…and woodsy.
FANTASTIC FELT AND NUNO-FELT HATS
Two-Five Days
Come and learn the basics of 3D felting, or expand your knowledge, as we create beautiful felt and nuno-felt hats. You will love the artistic possibilities, with functionality as an added bonus. We will go over pattern design and construction. I will bring a number of patterns from which to design your hat. We will create our hats over a template (flat resist), using wet-felting techniques, including nuno-felting. Hats will then be blocked and shaped.
EXPLORATIONS IN NUNO-FELT SURFACE DESIGN WORKSHOP
Two-Day Workshop
In this workshop we will explore surface design to create texture and visual interest in nuno-felting.. “Nuno” (which means “fabric” in Japanese) is a term now used to describe the felting of Merino wool into a sheer woven fabric base such as lightweight silks. We will go over a number of different techniques, several of which you may wish to combine in your own one-of-a-kind wearable art scarf.
FABULOUS FELT POPPY NECKLACE/LARIAT
Two-Day Workshop
In this fun hands-on workshop, we will transform Merino wool into a beautiful felt flower necklace/lariat suitable to wear for a dressy night out on the town or equally beautiful worn with your favorite pair of jeans and t-shirt. We will create our felt flower necklaces through the wet-felting process using just our hands, imagination, and a little soap and water, and leave with a beautiful fashion accessory.
FELT BIRD PODS
One-Day Workshop
Come and enjoy a fun day of wet-felting as you create a felt bird pod which is sure to be a hit with your feathered friends. The bird pod will be made of naturally water repellant wool. Small birds such as Wrens, Nuthatches, and Chickadees will use them for shelter and/or nesting.
This is a great introduction to wet felting employing resists...Watch as our flat felt pieces become three-dimensional.
FABULOUS FELT FLOWERS
One-Day Workshop
In this fun hands-on workshop, we will transform Merino wool roving into beautiful felt flowers using just our hands, imagination, and a little soap and water. This magical process is called wet felting. We will attach beads and a pin back so that you may adorn a coat or hat. Each participant will leave with at least two flowers.

Eco-printing is gaining in popularity all around the world…Come and find out why. If you’re unfamiliar with eco-printing, also known as botanical printing, it quite simply refers to leaves and plant matter that print through a bundling and heating process.
Join Dawn as she takes you on a little eco-printing tour where you’ll meet some of her friends from around the world, and see their beautiful eco-printed creations…All without experiencing any of the associated jet lag! We will embark on our journey visiting Australia, Ireland, Israel, and the Netherlands, and end our tour with a quick stop to Dawn’s Plainwell, Michigan studio.
Dawn will conclude the presentation with a question-and-answer period.

The roots of felt lie deep in the history of humanity. Surely our ancestors of long ago benefitted from the works created by the hands of feltmakers, or were feltmakers themselves.
