“Feltmaking for me is a path of exploration and self-expression and has been a continuing journey to give voice to my life experiences and surroundings.

This journey has been a gift to me in so many ways, including finding this wonderful community of fiber artists and feltmakers.”

Dawn Edwards, Felt Artist

I am Dawn Edwards, a felt artist and tutor based in Plainwell, Michigan USA. I sell my work under the label ‘Felt So Right’ and teach extensively within the USA and internationally. My felt art has appeared in numerous exhibitions, shows, magazines and books including Ellen Bakker's book Worldwide Colours of Felt, several issues of the Australian 'FELT' Magazine, the International Feltmakers Association ‘Felt Matters’ journal, the HGA journal ‘Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot’, the Russian magazine 'Felt Fashion'. I have had several works juried into Fiber Art Now’s Felt: Fiber Transformed including my felt vessel, ‘The Earth Beneath My Feet’ (2022 issue) and my ‘Blue Coral’ felt hat (2019 issue). Several of my beaded felt hats were chosen to appear in the International Feltmakers Association (IFA) 'Reconnect’ Exhibition'.

I am also a member of the Signature Artists’ Cooperative in Kalamazoo, Michigan and the co-coordinator of the not-for-profit group, 'Felt United', which currently has over 7,000 members.

My love of color, texture, and beauty in everyday life, have led to artistic expression through many creative endeavors including stained glass and pottery, and finally to a medium where I am able to incorporate many of those techniques into my felt-making. You may see some of the wonderful textural and sculptural images found in pottery, or the beautiful color ways noted in stained glass

I am available to teach in-person workshops, as well as speak or present, both in-person and virtually, to your group or organization.
