Felt United's International Day of Felt is an annual event held on the first Saturday of October, this year being October 7, 2017, in various ways around the world. Felt United was originated in 2009 through the vision of Elis Vermeulen of the Netherlands and Cynthia Reynolds of Norway. In late 2012, after firmly establishing Felt United, Elis and Cynthia, turned over the reigns of leadership to great friends, Dawn Edwards of Plainwell, Michigan, USA, and Nicola Brown of Ireland.
Participants from around the world participate in this grand celebration through a broad variety of events including a fashion shows/catwalk in Paris, open artist studios, a “Felt-in” outside the Tate Modern in London, workshops, installations at venues such as the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, and exhibits worldwide. Hundreds of images, plus additional information, may be found at the Felt United Facebook page and for the latest news on Felt United, please head on over to the Felt United blog.
I hope that you will take part in this year's Felt United in whatever form that you so choose. If you feel so inclined, we'd love to have you join the Felt United Facebook group and share your theme related felt images and events, as well as sharing in the bond created through felt.
Here's to creativity, worldwide friendships, and of course, feltmaking.
